China’s Fertility Point of No Return

China’s Fertility Point of No Return

On China now allowing three children per family, Ruth Institute President Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D., said, “In terms of falling fertility, China has probably passed the point of no-return. But it should still end all controls on family size. Government has no business telling families how many children they can have.”

Morse explained: “China’s Malthusian one-child policy went into effect in 1979. Besides bringing with it the horrors of forced abortion and sterilizations, the policy led to plummeting fertility.

“China now has a fertility rate of 1.3. With 2.1 needed to replace current population, sometime in this century, China’s population will begin declining. Once it starts, decline could become free fall.

“Once famous for its teeming masses, the nation is already experiencing a greying population and a growing shortage of workers. The toll this will take on China’s economy is hard to even imagine.”

In 2016, China modified its one-child policy to two, but by then the damage had been done. The age-old connection of the Chinese people to large families was broken. Even though they now can have up to three children, many urban families are still opting for only one child.

“The new 3-child policy is only for members of the Han majority,” Morse noted. “Beijing is still working to slash the population of the Muslim Uyghurs with coercive abortion and contraception.”

As a sociology student in China in 1979-80, Steven Mosher was the first to expose the horrors committed by the regime to limit family size. He spoke about this in a Dr. J Show interview.

Morse recently commented on The New York Times finally admitting the implications of falling fertility.

The worldwide impact of Demographic Winter will be discussed at the Ruth Institute’s 2021 Summit, “Reclaiming the Professions for Life and Family,” July 16-17 in Lake Charles, LA.

On Demographic Winter, New York Times Finally Getting It

Regarding the May 24 New York Times article, “Long Slide Looms for World Population,” Ruth Institute President Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D., said, “The mainstream media is finally starting to get that Demographic Winter is a reality.”

The Times reports: “All over the world, countries are confronting population stagnation and a fertility bust, a dizzying reversal unmatched in human history that will make first birthday parties a rarer sight than funerals, and empty homes a common eyesore.

“Like an avalanche, the demographic forces – pushing toward more deaths than births – seem to be expanding and accelerating.”

The article also notes:

  • The combination of longer lives and lower fertility is leading to fewer workers and more retirees, putting a severe strain on pension systems.
  • Because China will begin experiencing population decline, and Nigeria will continue growing due to larger family size, by the end of the century, Nigeria could have more people than China.
  • Once worldwide population decline begins, it could lead to a population freefall.
  • Countries like the U.S., Australia and Canada, with birthrates between 1.5 and 2 (with 2.1 needed to replace current population), have lessened the impact with immigration.
  • In 1992, South Korea had 900,000 18-year-olds. Today the number is 500,000.
  • An article in The Lancet speculates that by 2100, 183 out of 195 countries and territories will have fertility rates below replacement.
  • In Europe, incentives like baby bonuses and subsidized child care have had only a temporary impact on declining fertility.

“But there’s still a lot the media misses,” said Ruth Inst. Coalitions Director Don Feder. “The biggest factors driving falling fertility are the decline of marriage and religious observance. In the United States, the fertility rate has dropped from 3.5 in the 1950s to 1.9 today. Among adults in the prime childbearing years of 18 to 24, 45% were married in 1960, but only 9% were in 2016.”

Feder will speak on Demographic Winter at the Ruth Institute’s Survivors’ Summit, “Reclaiming the Professions for Life and Family,” July 16-17 in Lake Charles, LA.

Post-Divorce Gates Foundation Still Pushing Population Control in Africa

Post-Divorce Gates Foundation Still Pushing Population Control in Africa

Following the announcement of Bill and Melinda Gates’ divorce, Ruth Institute President, Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D., said, “Divorce is always tragic for children, even older children such as the three Gates children. The Ruth Institute offers sympathy and condolences to the Gates children for the loss of their parents’ union.

“The metaphorical child of the Gates’ marriage, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, will evidently continue to have the involvement of both its parents. The Foundation will keep promoting population control, including abortion, in Africa and other developing parts of the world.

“With net assets of $43.3 billion, larger than 70% of the world’s countries, the Gates Foundation is based on the premise that fewer people is the key to economic development and the best way to combat carbon emissions.”

The Foundation supported a series of International Conferences on Family Planning in conjunction with the United Nations Population Fund. One in Addis Ababa in 2013 focused on “universal access to reproductive health, especially [for] young people and other vulnerable groups,” according to UNFPA.

Morse explained: “Reproductive health is a euphemism for abortion. The goal is to get African nations to make abortion readily available and to encourage Western governments and do-gooders to pour in billions to combat ‘overpopulation.’”

Many Africans beg to differ, such as Nigerian biomedical scientist Obianuju Ekeocha, who said, “We are thirsty and they give us condoms! We are hungry and they offer us contraceptive pills! We are sick and they offer us the most modern techniques of abortion! We are naked and they lead us into the arms of sexual hedonism! We are imprisoned by poverty and they offer us sexual liberation!”

Morse added: “The billions spent by the Gates Foundation on abortion and contraception could go toward providing Africans with clean water, medicine and maternal health care. But instead of promoting life, it is used to buy death.

“And Gates’ premise, which is based on the discredited work of population control false prophet Paul Ehrlich, is all wrong. Population growth is a way out of poverty. Some of the world’s most prosperous nations have the largest populations, like the U.S., China and India. In many developing nations, the problem is lower population density than the developed world. The answer for Africa isn’t fewer children, but more,” Morse said.

Morse spoke in Uganda in 2019 on “The New Colonialism of the Sexual Revolution: An Authentic Catholic Response.”

Don Feder, the Ruth Institute’s Communications Director, will speak at a Family Symposium of the Kenya Christian Professionals Forum on May 14.

Vatican Health Care Conference an “Embarrassment to the Faith”

Vatican Health Care Conference an “Embarrassment to the Faith”

“The Vatican’s choice of speakers for its Fifth International Conference on Health Care is deeply embarrassing to the Catholic faith,” said Ruth Institute President Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D. “The Catholic Church is a world-wide institution of over one billion members. Among all those people to choose from, the Vatican’s Pontifical Council for Culture couldn’t find anyone better than this lineup of abortion advocates?”

The virtual conference, “Exploring the Mind, Body and Soul,” slated for May 6-8, 2021, includes many prominent abortion-proponents among its 114 speakers, including:

  • Chelsea Clinton, daughter of former President Bill Clinton, who told an interviewer in 2018 that it would be “un-Christian” to take away what she called “women’s access to safe, legal abortion.”
  • Albert Bourla, CEO of Pfizer, which manufactures abortion pills.
  • Dr. Anthony Fauci, who assured the World Health Organization that the Biden administration was committed to funding abortion.
  • Population control advocate Jane Goodall.
  • Super-model Cindy Crawford, a celebrity proponent of abortion.

Vatican News claims the conference will bring together “physicians, scientists, ethicists, religious leaders, patients’ rights advocates, policymakers, philanthropists, and commentators to discuss the status quo in medical research and technology, and how these are implemented on a global level.”

Morse responded: “In reality, the conference will bring together celebrities, drug manufacturers, and medical bureaucrats deeply committed to an anti-Catholic agenda, including abortion-on-demand and population control. They are more aligned with the goals of the global ruling class than with the perennial teachings of the faith.”

Former Apostolic Nuncio to the United States, Archbishop Carlo Maria Vigano, says that with this conference, the Holy See is “making itself the servant of the New World Order.”

“This conference is a travesty,” Morse said. “As Roman Catholics, we have a responsibility to defend the Deposit of Faith that was handed down to us from the Apostles. Those who take this responsibility seriously cannot look to The Vatican for direction or guidance. We must look to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, which clearly states that ‘abortion, willed as either an end or a means, is gravely contrary to the moral law,’ and that ‘this teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable.’” (CCC 2271)

Morse charged: “There are too many abortion proponents speaking at this conference to simply uninvite a few. The Ruth Institute calls on the Vatican to cancel the event. Plan a new, fresh conference with prominent scientists, philosophers, and religious leaders who are committed to authentic human rights, including the rights of the most vulnerable among us.”

The Ruth Institute also pledged support for a Life Site petition which asks the Vatican to terminate the May 6-8 conference.

Ruth Institute’s 2020 Summit for Survivors of the Sexual Revolution an Overwhelming Success

July 22, 2020

For Immediate Release

For More Information: media@ruthinstitute.org

The Ruth Institute’s 2020 Summit for Survivors of the Sexual Revolution (July 17-18) overcame last-minute challenges to emerge as an historic contribution to the cause of educating the public about the millions of lives damaged by the Sexual Revolution.

“Despite new restrictions on public gatherings in Louisiana, announced by our governor only the week before the event, our 2020 Summit was more successful than we could have hoped,” said Ruth Institute President Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D.

Morse explained that the Summit was a hybrid event, with in-person participation in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and online involvement. “None of the evils we confronted – pornography, sexual abuse, gender confusion, coercive population control and dramatically falling fertility – are going to call a time-out for a pandemic,” Morse observed.

The Summit included an Ambassador’s Program (intensive leadership training, by invitation only), an Awards Banquet and the Summit itself. Sessions included Surviving Childhood Sexual Abuse -- Surviving Pornography -- Surviving the LGBT Sub-Culture -- and Reporting from the Trenches on the Transgender Movement.

Among the topics covered in the Ambassador’s training program were: Understanding the Global Sexual RevolutionMedical Tragedies of the Sexual RevolutionSocial Science Evidence About the Sexual Revolution – and Human Rights Catastrophes of the Sexual Revolution: Population Control and Demographic Winter.

The speakers and panelists included experts as well as those offering personal testimony, among them: Dr. Michelle Cretella (Executive Director, American College of Pediatricians), Fr. Paul Sullins, Ph.D. (former Professor of Sociology at Catholic University of America and Senior Research Associate at the Ruth Institute), Dr. Paul Church (former Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Harvard Medical School), Sue Ellen Browder (a journalist and author of Subverted: How I Helped the Sexual Revolution Hijack the Women’s Movement), Luis Ruiz (a survivor of the Pulse Nightclub shootings who subsequently left the LGBT lifestyle), Faith Hakesley (a victim of rape by a Catholic priest who met with Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI), Brandon Showalter (a journalist who has written extensively on the trans movement), Melea Stephens (a family therapist and board member of the National Center on Sexual Exploitation) and Attorney Cathy Cleaver Ruse (formerly Pro-Life Spokesman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops now Senior Fellow for Legal Studies at the Family Research Council).

Morse summed up the importance of having a live event during the time of COVID: “The relationships and friendships formed were invaluable. Although we were delighted to offer online participation to those who weren’t able to join us in person, including some of our speakers, there are distinct advantages that come from being physically present in a conference room with leaders and activists who are working on the same issues and share your perspective.”

“They need and deserve to have their values defended with research, analysis and personal anecdotes,” Morse said, “and we were grateful to be in a position to do just that.”

Recordings from the summit will be available on-line in the not too distant future.

The United Nations Advances the Sexual Revolution – What’s to Celebrate?

This year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations. “The Ruth Institute will not be celebrating,” said Founder and President Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D. “What could have been a force for peace and understanding has led the war on unborn children and human reproduction.”

Since its founding in 1969, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has spent an estimated $20 billion facilitating abortion and forced sterilization campaigns worldwide. President Trump ended U.S. funding of UNFPA in 2017, saving taxpayers $32.5 million annually.

Morse explained: “At the time, the U.S. administration noted UNFPA’s complicity in China’s notorious one-child policy -- which included forced abortion and involuntary sterilizations -- affecting half a billion women over 30 years. The UN agency has held up China’s program as a model for developing nations to follow.”

Coalitions Director of the Ruth Institute, Don Feder said, “The United Nations Population Fund has sowed the wind and is reaping the whirlwind with its attack on human reproduction. Worldwide, the fertility rate is half of what it was in the 1960s.”

“It will be impossible to maintain industrialized civilization with declining populations,” Feder continued. “With pension costs and medical care for the elderly rising, and tax revenue declining from fewer workers, national budgets will be caught in a squeeze. Loneliness and suicide among the elderly will also rise. As it slips into old age, a whole generation will be left with no children or grandchildren to visit them in retirement – or one child a thousand miles away who may call them once a month. We can thank the United Nations for this human tragedy.”

Feder will be addressing population control and demographic winter at the Ruth Institute’s Summit for Survivors of the Sexual Revolution, July 17-18 in Lake Charles, LA. Learn more about the Summit here.

Ruth Institute Tells Uganda: Resist Ideological Imperialism

January 7, 2020

For immediate release

For More Information: media@ruthinstitute.org.

Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D., Founder and President of the Ruth Institute, warned those attending the Uganda National Youth Conference of the new colonialism of the Sexual Revolution.

Morse declared: “The old economic colonialism attempted to dominate the physical resources of the African continent. The new ideological imperialism attempts to dominate the soul of Africa.”

Morse continued: “The Sexual Revolution is not native to Africa. Wealthy and powerful people have spent vast sums of their own money to promote the Sexual Revolution.” These elites have also “captured the use of government and international agencies to impose these ideologies around the world,” especially in traditional societies.

Morse explained that the Sexual Revolution encompasses three main ideologies:

The Contraceptive Ideology – “Everyone is entitled to unlimited sexual activity without a live baby ever resulting. Abortion is the backup plan for an unwanted child.”

The Divorce Ideology – “A good society should separate both sex and babies from marriage. The underlying idea is that children do not really need to have a relationship with both of their parents. A person doesn’t have to be married to have sex or babies.”

The Gender Ideology – “Any differences we observe between men and women are socially constructed and evidence of injustice. The law and culture must eliminate all these differences.” The latest stage is “transgenderism,” meaning, “The sex of the body can be overwritten by technology and social engineering.”

Morse told Ugandans: “All of these ideas are foreign to your country. They were foreign to our country too until very recently.”

She also cautioned against using the terminology of the Sexual Revolution, which comes with built-in assumptions. For instance, “gay” assumes that those with same-sex attraction are a distinct group of people who were “born that way.” Whereas, in reality, there is no “gay gene.” “There is no scientifically established definition of the word gay.” Also, “Sexual orientation is fluid in many people, meaning that it can change.”

Morse said that the elites behind the Sexual Revolution have targeted Africa because Africans are a threat to them. “The ideologues fear your vitality and your fertility and your faith.” The new Western colonialists “want your conformity. They want your hearts and minds.”

Dr. Morse’s speech was delivered on December 12, 2019, to a national youth conference sponsored by the Diocese of Kasana-Luweero, with more than 4,600 in attendance from Congo, Kenya, and all over Uganda.

The Ruth Institute is considering future activities in Africa, including the possibility of its own events.
