Ruth Institute President Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D., called Judge Chatigny’s order requiring plaintiffs’ attorneys to refer to male athletes as “trans-female” outrageous.

Alliance Defending Freedom is challenging a Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference decision allowing male athletes who “identify” as female to compete in the girls’ division.

ADF is representing three girls who maintain it’s unfair to force them to compete against boys.

Morse observed, “You don’t need a degree in physiology to see that boys have an advantage in athletic contests due to their superior strength and speed. No amount of politically correct thinking can change that.” She notes that two “transgender male” sprinters together have won a total of 15 girls indoor and outdoor championships in Connecticut since 2017.

Morse added, These young men say they are females trapped in a male body. Be that as it may, their male bodies are competing against girl bodies. No legal dictate can change this obvious fact.”

The Ruth Institute agrees with the ADF motion asking the federal judge hearing the case to recuse himself.

“In his ruling on language, U.S. District Court Judge Robert Chatigny is demanding that lawyers for the plaintiffs adopt the language of their opponents, such as ‘trans-female,’” Morse said. “Judge Chatigny has clearly signaled that his mind is made up on the case, and that, regardless of the evidence ADF presents, he intends to allow the CIAC’s rule to stand.”

Connecticut is one of 17 states that allows students to compete in their division of choice without any restrictions. The U.S. Department of Justice has filed a statement of interest in the case, stating: “Allowing biological males to compete in all-female sports deprives women of the opportunity to participate fully and fairly in sports, and is fundamentally unfair to female athletes.”

Morse added: “The idea that individuals can change their sex is a basic tenet of the Sexual Revolution. In reality, the athletes the judge refers to as ‘trans-female’ were born male, are male, and will remain male until the day they die, no matter how they describe themselves and whatever an activist judge orders.”
