Ruth Inst. Rejects UN “Gender-Neutral Language” Manipulation

May 29, 2020

For Immediate Release

For More Information: media@ruthinstitute.org

Ruth Institute President Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D., said the United Nations’ attempt to make language more politically correct is “another advance for the Sexual Revolution and a further descent into barbarism.”

A UN bureaucrat recently tweeted that we need to make language more “gender-neutral” by eliminating the words “husband” and “wife” and substituting “spouse.” Morse noted, “Who controls the language controls the debate.”

“I warned ten years ago during the marriage debates that a necessary consequence of removing the gender requirement from marriage would be de-gendering marriage,” Morse said. “No more ‘husband and wife,” only gender-neutral ‘spouse’ or ‘partner.’”

Morse asked how far this will go. “This process also includes replacing the words ‘father and mother’ to the gender-neutral ‘parent.’ The words ‘son’ and ‘daughter’ become the generic ‘child.’ The end goal of the Sexual Revolutionaries is to remove all references to sex from law and custom.”

Regarding the UN tweet: “There was never a vote to switch from husband and wife to spouse, not even in the UN, where such a vote might have passed,” Morse said. “And there was certainly never a popular referendum on the question. Very few of the ordinary people who supported same-sex marriage had any idea that they were de-gendering marriage. Proponents of the Sexual Revolution are adept at infiltration and subversion of unaccountable bureaucracies.”

Morse urged: “Don’t let them get away with it. Once we start purging the language of gender-specific words, there’ll be no end to it. Each victory will whet the Revolutionary appetite for more. Today’s gender-confused children are, in part, a consequence of our gender-confused law and language.”

Ruth Inst: Blatant Judge Bias in “Trans” Athletes Case

May 27, 2020

For Immediate Release

For More Information: media@ruthinstitute.org

Ruth Institute President Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D., called Judge Chatigny’s order requiring plaintiffs’ attorneys to refer to male athletes as “trans-female” outrageous.

Alliance Defending Freedom is challenging a Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference decision allowing male athletes who “identify” as female to compete in the girls’ division.

ADF is representing three girls who maintain it’s unfair to force them to compete against boys.

Morse observed, “You don’t need a degree in physiology to see that boys have an advantage in athletic contests due to their superior strength and speed. No amount of politically correct thinking can change that.” She notes that two “transgender male” sprinters together have won a total of 15 girls indoor and outdoor championships in Connecticut since 2017.

Morse added, "These young men say they are females trapped in a male body. Be that as it may, their male bodies are competing against girl bodies. No legal dictate can change this obvious fact."

The Ruth Institute agrees with the ADF motion asking the federal judge hearing the case to recuse himself.

“In his ruling on language, U.S. District Court Judge Robert Chatigny is demanding that lawyers for the plaintiffs adopt the language of their opponents, such as ‘trans-female,’” Morse said. “Judge Chatigny has clearly signaled that his mind is made up on the case, and that, regardless of the evidence ADF presents, he intends to allow the CIAC’s rule to stand.”

Connecticut is one of 17 states that allows students to compete in their division of choice without any restrictions. The U.S. Department of Justice has filed a statement of interest in the case, stating: “Allowing biological males to compete in all-female sports deprives women of the opportunity to participate fully and fairly in sports, and is fundamentally unfair to female athletes.”

Morse added: “The idea that individuals can change their sex is a basic tenet of the Sexual Revolution. In reality, the athletes the judge refers to as ‘trans-female’ were born male, are male, and will remain male until the day they die, no matter how they describe themselves and whatever an activist judge orders.”

Ruth Institute Petition Calls for Moratorium on “Sex-Change” Operations

April 6, 2020

For Immediate Release

For more information, contact media@ruthinstitute.org.

The Ruth Institute is partnering with Life Petitions to call on governors to stop “sex-change” operations during the coronavirus crisis. This is in keeping with national efforts to halt elective surgeries and conserve medical resources. The petition, found here, has more than 4,600 signatures in just three days.

Ruth Institute President Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D., said: “No one will be harmed by delaying these operations. Besides conserving medical resources, it will give those planning such procedures a chance to reflect on the long-term consequences of actions they may come to regret.”

The petition also calls on governors to make it clear that talk-therapy aimed at helping gender-confused persons be at peace with their bodies does not constitute prohibited “conversion therapy.” Morse explained, “Conversion therapy bans are often so broad that therapists fear talking to gender-confused clients.”

“Removing healthy body parts may change the patient’s appearance but not his or her sex, which is biologically determined. The sex they had a birth they’ll have for their entire life, regardless of surgery and hormone treatment.”

The petition also rejects the charge that some wanting the procedure will commit suicide if they have to wait, calling the claim “highly debatable.”

Morse referred to a 2011 Swedish study, the most comprehensive of its kind, which shows that, “in reality, those who have undergone a ‘sex-change’ operation are nearly 20 times more likely to commit suicide than the general population.” (See below for link.)

“The answer to gender confusion is compassionate counseling, not facilitating a fraud,” Morse said.

See Dr. Morse’s interview with Dr. Erin Brewer, Ph.D., who describes wanting to be a boy after being molested as a child. She later became a Porn Hub star.

"Dr. Brewer's testimony provides a powerful witness to the long-term impact of sexual trauma,” Morse said. “We must address trauma with compassionate counseling, not with the amputation of healthy body parts and the prescription of unproven medications."

Ruth Institute Calls for Moratorium on “Sex-Change” Operations and Clarification on “Conversion Therapy”

April 2, 2020

For Immediate Release

For more information, contact media@ruthinstitute.org.

Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D., founder and president of the Ruth Institute, called on the nation’s governors to halt “gender reassignment surgery” during the coronavirus crisis.

Morse explained: “The government has called for a moratorium on non-essential procedures in order to conserve medical resources. Sex-change operations clearly fall within this category. No one will be harmed by a delay here. And it will give those considering such surgeries more time to contemplate what could be a life-altering event that they’ll later regret.”

The Ruth Institute took a similar position on abortion clinics during the coronavirus crisis, calling for a halt in elective abortions as non-essential medical procedures.

Trans activists have warned that some gender-confused will commit suicide if their operation is delayed. Morse called this argument a red herring. “A study shows that those who have undergone a ‘sex-change’ operation are nearly 20 times more likely to commit suicide than the general population.” (See below for link.)

Morse said a moratorium would help us come to terms with the nature of gender-reassignment surgery. “After the operation, patients will have the same sex they had before. These procedures change physical appearance, not DNA. Those who were born male or female will remain so till the end of their days, regardless of what they do to their bodies.”

“The answer to gender confusion is compassionate counseling, not facilitating a fraud,” Morse said. She also called on governors to lift bans on such therapy, where they exist. “Bans on conversion therapy are often so broad that therapists fear taking on gender-confused clients. Lifting such bans would enable those seeking help to receive it without therapists fearing legal consequences.”

Ruth Institute Petition Asks South Dakota Governor to Protect Children from Those Who Call Puberty a Disease

January 22, 2020

For immediate release

For more information, contact media@ruthinstitute.org.

A Ruth Institute petition urges South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem to support legislation to protect minors from puberty blockers, sterilization, disfiguring surgeries, and other medical “gender-modification” attempts.

Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D., Ruth Institute Founder and President, said, “The pharmaceuticals used to block puberty have not been approved for this purpose by the FDA. They have numerous well-documented side effects. The surgeries that attempt to change the sex of the body are irreversible.”

Morse further explained: “So-called transgenderism has no objective definition. No blood test, genetic testing, or brain imaging scans can confirm or deny the existence of a ‘transgender’ condition. Yet some medical professionals are giving harmful pharmaceuticals to, or performing irreversible surgeries on, confused children.”

The Vulnerable Child Protection Act, sponsored by Rep. Fred Deutsch, prohibits the following interventions on minor children:

  • Surgeries including castration, vasectomy, hysterectomy, vaginoplasty, and mastectomy
  • Prescribing, dispensing, or administering medications that block normal puberty, giving testosterone to females or giving estrogen to males
  • Removing a healthy or non-diseased body part or tissue

The petition asks Governor Noem to support South Dakota’s HB 1057, which protects vulnerable children and their families from medical professionals who would treat puberty as a disease.

Morse noted: “Studies show that 85% of gender-confused children eventually become comfortable with the sex of their bodies. For God’s sake, give children the chance to develop normally and make life-altering decisions for themselves as they mature.”

Ruth Institute Tells Uganda: Resist Ideological Imperialism

January 7, 2020

For immediate release

For More Information: media@ruthinstitute.org.

Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D., Founder and President of the Ruth Institute, warned those attending the Uganda National Youth Conference of the new colonialism of the Sexual Revolution.

Morse declared: “The old economic colonialism attempted to dominate the physical resources of the African continent. The new ideological imperialism attempts to dominate the soul of Africa.”

Morse continued: “The Sexual Revolution is not native to Africa. Wealthy and powerful people have spent vast sums of their own money to promote the Sexual Revolution.” These elites have also “captured the use of government and international agencies to impose these ideologies around the world,” especially in traditional societies.

Morse explained that the Sexual Revolution encompasses three main ideologies:

The Contraceptive Ideology – “Everyone is entitled to unlimited sexual activity without a live baby ever resulting. Abortion is the backup plan for an unwanted child.”

The Divorce Ideology – “A good society should separate both sex and babies from marriage. The underlying idea is that children do not really need to have a relationship with both of their parents. A person doesn’t have to be married to have sex or babies.”

The Gender Ideology – “Any differences we observe between men and women are socially constructed and evidence of injustice. The law and culture must eliminate all these differences.” The latest stage is “transgenderism,” meaning, “The sex of the body can be overwritten by technology and social engineering.”

Morse told Ugandans: “All of these ideas are foreign to your country. They were foreign to our country too until very recently.”

She also cautioned against using the terminology of the Sexual Revolution, which comes with built-in assumptions. For instance, “gay” assumes that those with same-sex attraction are a distinct group of people who were “born that way.” Whereas, in reality, there is no “gay gene.” “There is no scientifically established definition of the word gay.” Also, “Sexual orientation is fluid in many people, meaning that it can change.”

Morse said that the elites behind the Sexual Revolution have targeted Africa because Africans are a threat to them. “The ideologues fear your vitality and your fertility and your faith.” The new Western colonialists “want your conformity. They want your hearts and minds.”

Dr. Morse’s speech was delivered on December 12, 2019, to a national youth conference sponsored by the Diocese of Kasana-Luweero, with more than 4,600 in attendance from Congo, Kenya, and all over Uganda.

The Ruth Institute is considering future activities in Africa, including the possibility of its own events.

Countering Half-truths on Human Sexuality: A Clear Response to Fr. Martin’s Fuzzy Thinking

November 26, 2019

For Immediate Release

For more information, contact media@ruthinstitute.org.

On November 23, Hudson Byblow, a former same-sex attracted man with transgender inclinations, now a faithful Catholic living chastely, spoke at the Saint Pius X Church Center in Rochester, New York, to an enthusiastic audience.

This event, co-sponsored by The Ruth Institute and The Station of the Cross Catholic Radio Network, was in response to a recent interfaith Rochester event featuring Fr. James Martin, a priest known to advocate for homosexuality. The Ruth Institute worked with a group of local Catholics, at their request, to bring Byblow to Rochester.

Ruth Institute President Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D., said, “Catholics must respond to people like Fr. James Martin. Evangelicals must respond to people like Pastor Josh Harris. The best response to fuzzy thinking is clear, unambiguous positive thinking, especially on the ancient Christian teachings about marriage, family and human sexuality.”

“It was a great blessing to welcome Hudson Byblow to our diocese to share his story and proclaim the fullness of truth on the virtue of chastity,” said Jim Havens, General Manager of The Station of the Cross Catholic Radio Network.

“In our time, when grave lies about human sexuality have largely captured the culture, and have even gained a strong foothold within the human element of the Church, faithful lay-led events such as this are no longer merely beneficial, they have become necessary," Havens said.

Local pro-life leader John White said, “In his talk, ‘Something more beautiful,’ not only did we hear about the mercy of Jesus Christ, we also felt it through the story of Hudson Byblow. Once feeling inadequate and not one of the boys, he is now a leader of men. He leads them to Christ.”

Byblow is a teacher and public speaker. He shares his journey from feeling like he didn’t belong and that he must be “gay” (and then transgender) to joyfully living a life of chastity in the freedom of Christ.

Opposition to Mutilation Isn’t Hate Speech

November 13, 2019

For Immediate Release

For more information, contact media@ruthinstitute.org.

YouTube: “Criticizing Transgender Surgery = Hate”
Ruth Institute: “Banning Speech = Cowardice”

Ruth Institute President Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D. condemned YouTube’s decision to ban a Daily Signal/Heritage Foundation video with Dr. Michelle Cretella, M.D. over her comment on transgenderism.

“The Sexual Revolutionaries running YouTube are cowards. They cannot refute Dr. Cretella and the Heritage Foundation. They ban their opponents instead of confronting them. Big Tech is making Big Brother seem benign,” Morse said.

YouTube claims an observation by the eminent pediatrician, and executive director of the American College of Pediatricians, violates its hate speech code. In the 2017 interview, Cretella said: “If you want to cut off a leg or an arm, you’re mentally ill, but if you want to cut off healthy breasts or a penis, you’re transgender.”

“Dr. Cretella’s remarks did not promote violence toward or hatred of anyone,” Morse declared. “Instead, it’s the type of mutilation which Cretella spoke out against that’s an act of violence.”

Morse continued: “YouTube has decided that a perfectly reasonable remark by a medical professional is hate speech. It uses this to justify banning inconvenient expression.”

Dr. Cretella also appeared in the October 4 edition of The Dr J Show, the Ruth Institute’s new video podcast. Drs. Morse and Cretella discussed a variety of concerns, including the medical consequences of so-called gender-transitioning. The Ruth Institute is urging its supporters to promote this interview as a way to counter the censorship against our friends at the Heritage Foundation.

In another case the Ruth Institute has been involved with, divorced parents were in a bitter custody dispute. The wife wanted to transition her 7-year-old son to a transgendered “female.” The husband fought it. After a public outcry, the judge granted joint custody. But she also issued a gag order preventing the parties from discussing the case publicly. Said Morse “This is another outrageous example of censorship involving transgenderism.”

Despite YouTube’s attempts to silence dissent, the Heritage Foundation has made the public aware of the injustice through its direct email communications with supporters. The Ruth Institute urges the public to subscribe to its lists, so we can inform them if we’ve been de-platformed on social media.

“We intend to keep fighting to get the truth out, regardless of what Big Tech thinks or does,” Dr. Morse said.

Ruth Institute Decries Judge’s Gag Order in #SaveJames Case

October 31, 2019

For immediate release

For more information contact media@ruthinstitute.org.

Last week, the judge in the case of James Younger, the seven-year-old-boy whose mother wants to turn him into a “transgendered” girl, issued a gag order preventing James’ father from discussing the case publicly. Ruth Institute President Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D. said, “This is an egregious abridgement of the father’s First Amendment rights.”

James’ divorced parents each sought sole custody. His mother, who’s been making him wear dresses, painting his nails, and telling him he’s a girl named “Luna” since age three, has been taking him to a “gender clinic.” She wants to use drugs, and possibly surgery, to complete the process. His father is adamantly opposed.

Morse continued: “If the case hadn’t been publicized, due mostly to the interviews the father did, few of us would have known about what could have been a terrible miscarriage of justice. I believe the judge’s resolution of the case – including giving the parents joint medical decision-making – was due in part to an extraordinary public outcry.”

Matt Staver, Founder and Chairman of Liberty Counsel, says, “It’s fairly straightforward that you can’t gag a father from talking about his son to the media.” Staver calls the order “an outrageous decision by the court that’s clearly unconstitutional.”

Morse added: “Family court judges have an astonishing amount of power. Judge Kim Cooks could have given the mother everything she wanted – sole custody and the unimpeded power to effectively castrate her son. That’s what the jury recommended. If the case was decided in the dark, the judge might have confirmed it.” A petition in support of the father on Life Petitions has more than 86,000 signers.

In another Texas custody case, where four-year-old Drake Pardo was taken from his family over what was alleged to be medical abuse, a Dallas-area judge issued a similar gag order against the family.

A week ago, Texas Solicitor General Kyle Hawkins submitted a brief on behalf of the state of Texas calling the gag order “unconstitutional,” writing that the order “is plainly overboard and cannot be squared with the First Amendment’s free speech guarantees.”

Morse stated: “Injustice grows in the dark. The #SaveJames case deserves the widest possible exposure and unhampered discussion. The father’s freedom of speech must be restored.”

In a recent webcast of The Dr. J Show on the Ruth Institute Youtube page, Morse revealed the hidden dimensions of the case. “Transgenderism, third-party reproduction, and divorce all increase the power of the state over the lives of ordinary people. This is the Sexual Deep State at work.”

Morse explained, “Our #SaveJames campaign is part of the Ruth Institute’s overall mission to counter the Sexual Revolution and speak out for its victims.”

Ruth Inst. grateful Texas Department of Family and Protective Services is Getting Involved to #SaveJames

October 29, 2019

For more information, contact media@ruthinstitute.org

Ruth Institute Founder and President, Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D., expressed relief that the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services is “reviewing allegations of child abuse” in the case of James Younger – a seven-year-old boy whose mother wants to “transition” him into a girl.

Last week in Dallas, Judge Kim Cooks awarded the parents (who are involved in a bitter battle over the upbringing of James and his twin brother, Jude) joint medical decision-making. However, her ruling could be changed at any time.

In a webcast of The Dr. J Show on the Ruth Institute Youtube page, Morse revealed the hidden dimensions of this case, commonly known by the hashtag #SaveJames.

“The case is not just about transgenderism. It’s also about divorce. The family courts have too much power. This judge had the authority to grant everything the mother requested. That she didn’t is probably due to extraordinary public pressure. Still, whether the father cuts the boy’s hair, dresses him as a boy, or is sufficiently ‘affirming’ can determine whether he gets to see his own sons.”

“The case is also about third party reproduction,” Morse said. “James was conceived with a donated egg. The mother carried him to birth but has no genetic connection.”

In the webcast, Morse noted: “People who are determined to have a child at all costs sometimes develop serious control issues. The child becomes a project of one parent or the other. That appears to be the case here, with the mother so controlling that she wants to force her son to live as her ‘daughter.’”

“And, of course, the case is about the transgender ideology, too. With virtually no clinical standards, adults are making irrevocable decisions that affect young children. This little boy is perfectly healthy. The sex of his body is not ‘wrong’ and does not need to be surgically or chemically altered.”

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, a conservative, suggested the state’s Attorney General look into the matter. A letter from the Texas AG asked the Department to examine the case, urging it to “investigate possible child abuse against seven-year-old James Younger, whose mother has proposed chemically and surgically altering his biological sex based on her belief that he may identify as a girl.”

In her groundbreaking webcast, Morse shows that: “Transgenderism, third-party reproduction and divorce all increase the power of the state over the lives of ordinary people. This is the Sexual Deep State at work.”

Morse explained, “Our defense of James Younger is part of the Ruth Institute’s overall mission to counter the Sexual Revolution and speak out for its victims.”
