Amazon is “Cancel Culture Central” says Ruth Inst.
Amazon’s latest ban is When Harry Became Sally: Responding to the Transgender Moment by Ryan T. Anderson. “Amazon is becoming ‘Cancel Culture Central,’” said Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D., President of the Ruth Institute. “They’re rapidly moving from selling books to the high-tech equivalent of burning books.”
A group of senators wrote to Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos asking for an explanation, since Amazon still carries a number of Anderson’s books and sold When Harry Became Sally from its publication in 2018 until just a few weeks ago.
When questioned, Amazon refers to its ill-defined standards, including a refusal to sell books considered “hateful.” Morse wondered, “Why weren’t these titles ‘hateful’ for the years Amazon offered them, but suddenly are now?
“How does a scientific debate violate Amazon’s sacred standards,” Morse asked. “The arguments in all of these books are presented dispassionately and backed by scientific data and expert opinion.”
Morse notes that the timing is suspicious. “Amazon dropped Anderson’s book on transgenderism the same week that Congress took up the so-called Equality Act, adding ‘transgenders’ to groups protected by civil rights law.
“This is not Amazon’s first episode of censorship,” Morse observed. “In 2019, they banned all books by the late Dr. Joseph Nicolosi, Sr., M.D., the father of reparative therapy. More recently, Amazon abruptly canceled the MassResistance book, The Health Hazards of Homosexuality, a book it helped to publish.”
Amazon is just the tip of the iceberg. In February, Twitter cancelled the account of Focus on the Family’s Daily Citizen for describing Biden’s nominee for Assistant Secretary for Health at the Department of Health and Human Services, Dr. Rachel Levine, as “a transgender woman, that is, a man who believes he is a woman.”
Morse said: “That description is fully in accord with biology. Amazon and the rest of the high-tech establishment want to pretend that the debate on transgenderism is closed. In fact, they’re terrified of a discussion because they know full well that there’s nothing scientific about a man ‘identifying’ as a woman. Did he somehow change his DNA?”
Morse noted that Amazon’s standards allow it to continue selling Hitler’s Mein Kampf. Morse explained: “Other than a few neo-Nazi crackpots, no one is influenced by Mein Kampf. A reasonable person reading scientific arguments against transgenderism just might be persuaded. The High-Tech Establishment is so committed to the transgender ideology, they won’t take that risk.”

Ruth Inst. Files “S*xual Orientation and Gender Identity” Submission to United Nations
The Ruth Institute submitted a memorandum to the United Nation’s expert on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI). However, “We have no illusions of having an impact on the UN’s expert,” Ruth Inst. president Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D., said. “His mandate is based on the theory that sexual orientation and gender identity are innate, which we emphatically reject. But it’s equally clear that we and groups like us must oppose the gender ideology being pushed by UN bureaucracy.”
The Ruth Institute submission makes the following points:
1. SOGI-based policies are themselves a form of violence and discrimination against women and girls who wish to maintain their privacy, modesty, and physical safety.
2. Gender Identity laws would eliminate all sex-based protections for women and girls, which required decades to achieve. Among other things, it would require female athletes to compete against biological males who say they’re female, with the latter’s superior strength, endurance, speed, and agility.
3 SOGI laws would require Catholic physicians and hospitals to provide “trans-gender” drugs and surgery in violation of their conscience.
4. Such laws would criminalize speech by labeling criticism a form of bias.
5. Gender Identity is anti-science. A man or woman can’t change their sex, because they can’t alter their DNA, regardless of what they do to their bodies with drugs and surgery.
6. SOGI polices are an attack on the family. Activists often push for indoctrination in schools and media, and “transitioning” for minors, often without parental knowledge or consent.
7. SOGI policies are an assault on Christianity and Judaism, which acknowledge that God created us male and female, and that sex is inherent to our nature. Gender Identity ideologues believe such ideas are bigoted and encourage violence against the “transgendered.”
8. A gender regime would force people to lie about the physical reality of male and female and thus corrupt themselves.
Other groups opposing the UN’s SOGI push include Family Watch International, the UN Human Rights Caucus, the Compassion Coalition, Partners for Ethical Care, and the Women’s Liberation Front.
Morse mused: “I’m sure the countries which ratified the UN’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948 never imagined the day would come when the concept of man and woman would be under attack at the United Nations. SOGI is the most far-reaching attempt to rewrite the laws of nature and force adherence to a totalitarian gender ideology.”

Ruth Inst. Resource Center Fights Censorship and Propaganda
“I’m
proud to announce that the Ruth Institute has opened its on-line Resource Center on Censorship and Propaganda,”
said Ruth Institute President, Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D.
Morse observed: “Thoughtful people from across the political spectrum are becoming alarmed by the ‘Cancel Culture,’ Big Tech censorship, and the endless flow of distorted ‘news’ that amounts to propaganda. Big Tech’s origin and lifeblood is the free flow of information, and yet they are leading the charge to censor everything from books to postings, websites to Tweets. At the same time, the media pushes insidiously disguised propaganda. The Legacy Media, along with Tech Giants like Amazon, Google, Facebook, and Twitter, have moved from the information/communications business to the censorship and propaganda business.”
Morse urged: “In our work defending the family, the Ruth Institute has become increasingly convinced that the premises of the Sexual Revolution are simply false. Those who promote the Sexual Revolution must resort to distortion, half-truths, propaganda, and outright censorship. We created The Ruth Institute Propaganda and Censorship Resource Center to help people learn to identify and fight propaganda.”
The Resource Center includes reports and videos such as:
“Why the constant censorship is not surprising.” This short video from Dr. Morse explains how the utopian fantasies of so many in the ruling class create a need for censorship. Anyone who points out for instance, that the Sexual Revolution is harming people, must be silenced.
“How I helped the Sexual Revolution hijack the women’s movement.” This is a video (with transcript) of a speech by former Cosmopolitan writer Sue Ellen Browder, explaining how and why the “Cosmo Girl” was invented.
“How unbiased are the fact checkers?” Dr. Morse interviews “Just Facts” Founder Jim Agresti on how and why “Fact-Checkers” so often miss the mark.
“Removed book – a talk with the author of The Health Hazards of Homosexuality.” Gay sex is risky. No one has ever refuted the contents of this book, but Amazon removed it and the authors’ account. This interview tells the whole story.
“NBC again smears the Ruth Institute as a hate group,” is one of a series of press releases in which the Ruth Institute responds to the bogus “hate group” claims.
“This
is only a small taste of the materials available at the Ruth Institute’s Censorship and Propaganda Resource Center now,” Morse said. “We’ll include more and more resources over time. Our goals are to educate, activate and inspire. People are increasingly fed
up with the steady diet of political correctness, and exhausted from trying to sort through the latest nonsense. We’re giving people the tools
and the confidence to identify propaganda for themselves.”

“Equality Act” Will Force Us to Lie Says Ruth Institute
The “Equality Act” making its way through Congress will force people to lie about the reality of biological sex and, by lying, to corrupt themselves,” said Ruth Institute President Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D.
“The Equality Act will require us to affirm that a man who says he’s a woman is in fact, in every way, a woman. If you can make people tell such an obvious lie, you can get them to do anything,” Morse said.
The bill, which passed the House on February 18, would amend the U.S. Civil Rights Act to add sexual orientation and gender identity to the list of protected classes.
“But it goes far beyond that,” Morse said. “A man who says he’s a woman could stay overnight in a shelter for battered women. A convicted rapist who says he’s a woman could be housed in a women’s prison. The bill will force our daughters to use bathrooms, changing room and showers with biological males who say they are females. This is the height of insanity.
“If the so-called Equality Act becomes law, it will destroy women’s sports. For years, ‘progressives’ insisted on absolute equality between men and women’s sports. Clinton Administration officials went around closing men’s wrestling and swimming programs to achieve this goal. Now, in the name of a bogus equality, self-styled champions of women are killing women’s sports by forcing women and girls to compete with males who are, by their nature, stronger, faster and have greater endurance.
“I find it mystifying that a party that puts itself forth as a champion of women could do this to real flesh-and-blood women,” Morse charged.
“The ‘Equality Act’ would require Catholic physicians and hospitals to prescribe hormone treatments and perform surgery in violation of their conscience. Employers would not be allowed to discriminate on the basis of ‘gender identity.’ Airlines would have to use male TSA guards who say they are women to do pat-downs of biological, that is, real women.”
Morse warned, “We are on the verge of becoming a totalitarian society where the government commands citizens to lie. If this monstrosity becomes law, we will have gone over the edge and into uncharted territory.”
There’s a good chance the misnamed Equality Act can be stopped in the Senate, where 60 votes are needed to end a filibuster. Morse urged senators to “‘follow the science,’ in President Biden’s immortal words, and not endorse a deceptive appeal to minority rights. We cannot allow ideology to trump reality.”

“New York’s Gov. Cuomo is yet another prominent Democrat and self-proclaimed ‘champion of women’s rights’ who’s come under fire for sexual harassment of subordinates,” said Ruth Institute President Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D.
Last week, Cuomo was accused of sexually harassing two ex-aides. One said he forcibly kissed her on the lips and invited to her play strip poker with him. The other claims he asked if she was “monogamous” and whether she’d ever had sex with older men. Cuomo is 63; the woman is 25.
Cuomo denied both allegations, though he does admit to being “playful” at times and says he can see where his playfulness might be misinterpreted. Morse responded, “I fail to see the humor here. There’s nothing playful about forcibly kissing someone on the lips. What it is, is sexual assault.”
Morse remarked that Cuomo’s situation appears to be part of a pattern. “Among the prominent Democrats who’ve been credibly accused of sexual harassment are Al Franken, who was forced to resign from the Senate; Bill Clinton, who admitted to perjury to cover up his affair with an intern decades his junior; the late Judge Stephen Reinhardt of the U.S. Appeals Court; and President Biden himself. During last year’s campaign, a woman said Biden had sexually assaulted her when she was an intern in his Senate office.”
Morse observed, “Each of these men is pro-abortion. Each has a reputation as a champion of women’s rights. In 2019, Gov. Cuomo signed what was called the most sweeping protections against workplace harassment then enacted.
“But when these so-called champions of women’s rights get women alone, it’s often a different story,” Morse said. “Meanwhile, Sexual Revolutionaries in the media ridicule former Vice President Pence for his policy of never being alone with a woman. ‘Prudish,’ they say. ‘Out of touch,’ they say. But there are no credible accusations of sexual harassment against the former Vice President,” Morse noted.
Morse also addressed the disparity in feminist treatment of Democrats and Republicans. “During the Brett Kavanaugh confirmation hearings, then-Senator Kamala Harris asked why his accuser would come forward to challenge a ‘powerful man’ if her allegations weren’t true? Doesn’t that logic apply here too?”Morse asked. “Instead, the silence from feminists is deafening.”
The Ruth Institute joins a bi-partisan group of New York state legislators in calling for an independent investigation of the charges against Governor Cuomo.

“This may be the greatest threat to freedom in America today,” Ruth Institute President Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D., said of censorship and the cancel culture.
Earlier this month, the pro-family group MassResistance discovered that its credit-card processing had been shut down. Supporters who tried to donate online were told their credit card was “declined,” with no further explanation offered. “For nine harrowing days, we worked to deal with this,” said MassResistance chairman Brian Camenker. Additionally, Amazon now refuses to sell the MassResistance book, The Health Hazards of Homosexuality, after offering it for several years.
Morse noted: “This has been going on for some time, but the trend has accelerated since the Capitol Hill riot last month. Conservatives have been de-platformed and lost speaking venues and book deals. Simon & Schuster violated its contract to publish Sen. Josh Hawley’s book, ironically titled The Tyranny of Big Tech.” However, the book will be published in May by Regnery.
“No one is immune,” Morse observed. “Focus on the Family, one of the largest pro-family groups in the nation, had its Twitter account locked. Their offense? A tweet pointing out that Dr. Rachel Levine, President Biden’s nominee for Asst. Secretary of Health, is a man who says he’s a woman. According to Twitter, acknowledging this biological fact is ‘hateful.’ That means reality is ‘hateful.’”
Morse continued: “Even President Trump has had his Twitter account locked for more than a month. The Tech Oligarchs aren’t afraid of the President of the United States. That tells you something about who really holds power in this country.”
Morse disclosed, “In 2017, the Ruth Institute temporarily lost our ability to process donations because of our opposition to the Sexual State. Vanco Payments said we were ‘flagged’ as a group with a product or service ‘that promotes hate, violence, harassment and/or abuse.’ If countering family breakdown and helping victims of the sexual revolution makes us ‘hateful,’ so be it.”
Morse called the censorship movement “nothing less than an attempt to enforce groupthink and avoid a debate on many of the most important issues confronting our society.
“It works this way: If you oppose same-sex marriage, you’re ‘hateful.’ If you oppose the destruction of women’s sports in the name of ‘equality,’ you’re ‘hateful.’ If you affirm that a man who says he’s a woman is still a man, you’re ‘hateful.’ And if you oppose administering cross-sex hormones to adolescents -- you’re just too hateful for words.’’
On Tuesday, March 2nd at 7:00pm EST, Morse will have a Facebook Live Chat with Brian Camenker and a representative of Focus on the Family to discuss censorship.
During the week of March 7-13, the Ruth Institute will launch its Fighting Censorship and Propaganda Resource Center.

Ruth Inst. saddened but not surprised Biden Restored WHO Funding
“It’s sad but hardly surprising,” said Ruth Institute President Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D., in response to the news that the Biden Administration will restore $200 million in funding to the World Health Organization cut by President Trump last year.
Trump cited WHO’s abysmal record of supporting China on its handling of the coronavirus. Morse observed, “WHO essentially acted as an adjunct of Beijing by initially downplaying the seriousness of the crisis and then covering up the communist regime’s gross mishandling of the pandemic.
“WHO went along with China’s opposition to a travel ban – which would have saved millions of lives, had it been put into effect early on. In December 2019, WHO even denied that human to human transmission was possible, again following party line.
“Beyond COVID-19, WHO has become a relentless champion of abortion worldwide,” Morse explained. “In a 2012 publication, it said 47,000 die each year, and another 5 million are disabled, due to what it calls ‘unsafe abortion.’ The WHO further claimed that ‘Access to safe elective abortion early in pregnancy could prevent nearly every one of these deaths.’ Needless to say, the Ruth Institute categorically rejects WHO’s specious arguments.”
Morse commented, “Just as WHO acts as a rubber-stamp for China on COVID-19, it’s a megaphone for the Planned Parenthood Federation on what it euphemistically designates ‘reproductive health.’”
“In reality, abortion is never safe for the unborn child or for society,” Morse said. “In America, ‘safe, elective abortion,’ has led to such horrors as late-term abortion, abortions performed on minors without parental consent, abortion as a form of birth control, violating conscience rights and the sale of fetal body parts.
“Since there’s no daylight between the Biden administration and the abortion lobby, it’s not exactly shocking that restoring funding to the World Health Organization was one of Biden’s first moves as president. While abortion advocates are thrilled, the American people – including mothers and children – are not well-served by this decision,” Morse concluded.

Cuomo’s Surrogacy Law Ignores the Rights of Children
“New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s Surrogacy law legalizes commercial, gestational surrogacy --- the buying and selling of newborns,” said Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D., Founder and President of the Ruth Institute. “We unequivocally deplore this law.”
Already in hot water over his alleged responsibility for COVID deaths in nursing homes, Cuomo refused to have the bill considered as stand-alone legislation. Instead, he had it buried in the state budget last April to avoid a debate. The new law took effect February 15.
“Gestational surrogacy is all about the rights of adults. The Governor’s self-congratulatory press release makes this very clear: he talks more about insurance than about the bonds between mothers and fathers and children,” Morse charged. “The announcement states that the surrogate has a right to health insurance provided by those renting her womb. The ‘parents’ have the right to purchase insurance to cover their financial losses in the event that the surrogate ‘fails to perform under the surrogacy contract.’ What exactly does ‘fail to perform’ mean? I suppose it means the mother wants to keep the baby.”
Morse continued, “The worst part of this bill is that rights of the child aren’t even alluded to. The child has no right to a relationship with his or her biological parents, whom the law callously refers to as ‘gamete providers.’ Let’s be clear: the ‘egg provider’ is the child’s genetic mother. The ‘sperm provider’ is the child’s genetic father. The child has no right to know his or her genetic identity and cultural heritage,” Morse observed. “The law specifically separates the child from these people.”
“And let’s be even more clear,” Morse continued. “The ‘surrogate’ is the child’s gestational mother, who carried the child in her womb for nine months. Civilized people believe it is a good thing for mothers to bond with their children in utero. The surrogacy industry, aided by the law, assures the ‘intended parents’ that the surrogate will not bond with the baby and will surrender the baby at birth.”
Morse further stated: “Supporters of surrogacy include the LGBT lobby, who refer to this law as providing ‘Family Equality.’ They want undisputed parental rights to the children they contract for, rights which can only be provided by government intervention. But Cuomo’s law creates inequalities among children: some children have a legally recognized right to know their genetic parents and others do not. The Ruth Institute categorically deplores surrogacy.”

Sodom and Gomorrah Sex Tips from Colorado Dept. of Health
Commenting on a guide to “Sexual health during the pandemic” from the Colorado Department of Public Health, Ruth Institute President Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D., said, “It sounds a lot like the guidelines issued by New York City last March. I suppose they had to follow someone’s lead. Sodom and Gomorrah are out of business.”
The health departments in both states recommend masturbation as the best way to avoid spreading the virus. Both suggest avoiding sex “with anyone outside your household.” Also, if you do have sex with multiple partners, “have as few partners as possible.”
“The Ruth Institute offers our own health tip for the people of Colorado,” Morse said. “Have sex with one and only one partner: your spouse. That is a sure-fire way to avoid the spread of disease, including sexually transmitted diseases.”
Morse continued, “Last March, I stated that it sounded like the NYC Dept of Public Health was run by and for sex addicts. Now, Colorado sounds the same.”
Each state recommends prophylactics and dental dams and advises washing “sex toys” with soap and warm water “to avoid transmission and infection.” Colorado further admonishes “disinfect the surfaces where you have sex.” Like the kitchen table?
Morse observed: “These guidelines assume the average person has sex with multiple partners, meets partners online, and has ‘sex toys.’ Such assumptions are a way to try to normalize the aberrant lifestyles favored by the Sexual State.
“How well these assumptions work is demonstrated by the 20 million new STD infections a year in this country. Many are the result of the casual and multiple liaisons that Colorado and New York City take for granted.
“This is typical of the Sexual Revolution, which holds that any type of sexual activity is as valid as any other. If you tried to talk morality to these public health departments, which are evidently staffed by true believers, you’d get a blank stare.” Morse explained.
“Someone who prattles about washing sex toys to counter a pandemic isn’t serious. In fact, quite the opposite. How well the principles of the sexual revolution work can be seen in rising levels of divorce, out-of-wedlock births, pornography addiction, and sexually transmitted disease.
“If insanity were a disease, both the Colorado and New York Departments of Public Health would be in critical condition,” Morse said.

Planned Parenthood Despicable for Medicating “Transgender” Youth--Ruth Inst.
“Apparently there’s no longer enough money in the abortion racket. Now Planned Parenthood has found a new class of victims to exploit,” said Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D., Founder and President of the Ruth Institute.
Morse was reacting to an explosive interview with an anonymous Planned Parenthood employee, calling trans kids ‘cash cows.’ The PP staffer told Wall Street Journal that youth who identify as transgender were quickly prescribed cross-sex hormones with no examination of their underlying condition.
The staffer also said that many of those seeking such treatment “showed signs of emotional and mental health issues” and then “are kept on the hook for the foreseeable future in terms of follow-up appointments, blood work, meetings etc., whereas abortions are (hopefully) a one-and-done situation.”
Morse stated, “Our friends who do sidewalk counseling outside Planned Parenthood clinics told us about the increase of ‘trans-minded’ clients, so we weren’t surprised by these revelations. Planned Parenthood has simply found a new way to exploit youth.
“Young women who are often at their most vulnerable visit a clinic and are put on an operating table as quickly as possible,” Morse said. “There is no counseling. No alternatives are discussed. The names of underage women who were sexually exploited often aren’t reported to the police. It’s: Get on the table, put your feet in the stirrups, and you’re done. There isn’t even a discussion of the psychological effects of abortion, like post-abortion syndrome or the increased risk of breast cancer.”
With Planned Parenthood’s recent selling baby parts scandal, “How much more evidence is needed of the predatory nature of Planned Parenthood’s ‘business’?” Morse asked.
