Ruth Inst: “Cuties” Proves Need for Presidential Debate on Family Issues

September 21, 2020

For Immediate Release

For More Information: info@ruthinstitute.org

Commenting on the outrage provoked by the child pornography of Netflix’s “Cuties,” Ruth Institute President Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D., said: “With this highly eroticized portrayal of 11-year-old girls, the global ruling class is once again pushing the envelope on pedophilia. This latest example of the pornification of our culture shows the need for a 4th presidential debate, exclusively on issues impacting the family.”

Partnering with LifeSite, the Ruth Institute has an online petition calling for a debate focusing on what the candidates would do to strengthen the family and counter the various threats to the family.

The petition currently has more than 5,700 signers.

“‘Cuties’ is just the latest example of a growing anti-family culture,” Morse said. “Others include the two egregious Supreme Court rulings at the end of June, one striking down the mildest restrictions imaginable on abortion, and the other which would allow so-called transgenders to participate in women’s sports – thus effectively ending women’s sports.”

Such a debate might include the following questions for the candidates:

  • Would you have your Attorney General investigate the possibility of bringing up Netflix on child pornography charges?
  • Should pornography be declared a public health crisis on the federal level, as it has in 16 states?
  • Do you support a born-alive law to protect abortion survivors?
  • Should foreign aid be conditioned on recipients accepting Western sexual norms, including legalizing abortion and normalizing homosexual relations?
  • What is your opinion of medically unnecessary surgeries and drugs for minors trying to change the sex of their bodies?

“Questions such as these will not be asked in the three scheduled debates September 29 and October 15 and 22, but for families, they are just as relevant as energy policy, trade, and public health concerns. That’s why we’re pushing so hard for a fourth debate on family issues,” Morse explained.

Ruth Institute’s 2020 Summit for Survivors of the Sexual Revolution an Overwhelming Success

July 22, 2020

For Immediate Release

For More Information: media@ruthinstitute.org

The Ruth Institute’s 2020 Summit for Survivors of the Sexual Revolution (July 17-18) overcame last-minute challenges to emerge as an historic contribution to the cause of educating the public about the millions of lives damaged by the Sexual Revolution.

“Despite new restrictions on public gatherings in Louisiana, announced by our governor only the week before the event, our 2020 Summit was more successful than we could have hoped,” said Ruth Institute President Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D.

Morse explained that the Summit was a hybrid event, with in-person participation in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and online involvement. “None of the evils we confronted – pornography, sexual abuse, gender confusion, coercive population control and dramatically falling fertility – are going to call a time-out for a pandemic,” Morse observed.

The Summit included an Ambassador’s Program (intensive leadership training, by invitation only), an Awards Banquet and the Summit itself. Sessions included Surviving Childhood Sexual Abuse -- Surviving Pornography -- Surviving the LGBT Sub-Culture -- and Reporting from the Trenches on the Transgender Movement.

Among the topics covered in the Ambassador’s training program were: Understanding the Global Sexual RevolutionMedical Tragedies of the Sexual RevolutionSocial Science Evidence About the Sexual Revolution – and Human Rights Catastrophes of the Sexual Revolution: Population Control and Demographic Winter.

The speakers and panelists included experts as well as those offering personal testimony, among them: Dr. Michelle Cretella (Executive Director, American College of Pediatricians), Fr. Paul Sullins, Ph.D. (former Professor of Sociology at Catholic University of America and Senior Research Associate at the Ruth Institute), Dr. Paul Church (former Assistant Professor of Surgery at the Harvard Medical School), Sue Ellen Browder (a journalist and author of Subverted: How I Helped the Sexual Revolution Hijack the Women’s Movement), Luis Ruiz (a survivor of the Pulse Nightclub shootings who subsequently left the LGBT lifestyle), Faith Hakesley (a victim of rape by a Catholic priest who met with Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI), Brandon Showalter (a journalist who has written extensively on the trans movement), Melea Stephens (a family therapist and board member of the National Center on Sexual Exploitation) and Attorney Cathy Cleaver Ruse (formerly Pro-Life Spokesman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops now Senior Fellow for Legal Studies at the Family Research Council).

Morse summed up the importance of having a live event during the time of COVID: “The relationships and friendships formed were invaluable. Although we were delighted to offer online participation to those who weren’t able to join us in person, including some of our speakers, there are distinct advantages that come from being physically present in a conference room with leaders and activists who are working on the same issues and share your perspective.”

“They need and deserve to have their values defended with research, analysis and personal anecdotes,” Morse said, “and we were grateful to be in a position to do just that.”

Recordings from the summit will be available on-line in the not too distant future.

Survivors Summit Covers Abuse, Addictions and Attitudes that Threaten our Civilization

June 23, 2020

For Immediate Release

For More Information: media@ruthinstitute.org

In the wake of the Supreme Court’s disastrous Bostock decision, the Ruth Institute’s Summit for Survivors of the Sexual Revolution takes on extreme urgency. The Summit, to be held July 17-18, in Lake Charles, LA, will analyze the many ways the Sexual Revolution needs the power of the State to do its destructive work.

Ruth Institute President, Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D., stated, “The Bostock ruling redefines “female” and “male” for purposes of law. The Obergefell decision redefined marriage. The Federalist Society vetted Gorsuch, appointed by Pres. Trump, who wrote the majority opinion. This terrible ruling shows that the conservative legal establishment has no idea how to address sexual and social issues. The Sexual Revolution attacks both the individual and the family. At our Summit, we’ll take a hard look at some of the most destructive pathologies the Global Ruling Class has inflicted on ordinary people.”

Expert presentations will include:

  • Surviving Childhood Sexual Abuse – The future of health and the family depends on ending it. No one will do this but people of faith! Presented by Dr. Morse and Fr. Paul Sullins, Ph.D.
  • Surviving Pornography, as a nation, as a family, as an individual: Pornography as a Public Health Crisis, Melea Stephens (of the National Center on Sexual Exploitation) and Protecting Young Eyes: Tools for Parents and Other Educators, presented by Chris McKenna (of Covenant Eyes).
  • Surviving the LGBT Sub-Culture: Medical Issues – presented by Dr. Michelle Cretella, MD, of the American College of Pediatricians.
  • Reporting from the front lines of the Transgender Movement – stories from parents of gender-confused children, “desisters” (individuals who lived as the opposite sex and stopped), resistance within the medical profession and surprising new allies, presented by journalist Brandon Showalter.

The program will also include testimony from Survivors of the Sexual Revolution, as well as activists’ panels, question and answer sessions and general discussions.

Among the participants on the Surviving the LGBT subculture panel are journalist Doug Mainwaring and Pulse Nightclub shooting survivor, Luis Ruiz. Both left the LGBT subculture.

Morse observed: “After the Bostock ruling, social conservatives of all faiths have realized beyond any shadow of a doubt: we are on our own. Participants at our Summit will have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be part of redefining the direction of the social conservative movement. The encounter with experts and their analysis, the first-hand testimony of Survivors, and the experience of effective activists, will inspire participants. They will come away with new friends as well as practical tips on how to get involved and make a difference.”

Ruth Inst. Third Annual Awards Dinner and Summit for Survivors of the Sexual Revolution – July 17-18, 2020

June 2, 2020

For Immediate Release

For more information, contact media@ruthinstitute.org.

The Ruth Institute will hold its Third Annual Awards Dinner and Summit for Survivors of the Sexual Revolution on July 18, in Lake Charles, LA. Ruth Institute President Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D., said, “This Dinner and Summit will take those who’ve suffered from the Sexual Revolution from victimhood to healing, empowerment and activism.”

The event will be held live, in accordance with the gradual reopening guidelines for the state of Louisiana. Morse said, “We are not cowering in fear, wondering whether we will have a future. We will comply with all public health guidelines in place at the time. But we want the public to know that we at the Ruth Institute are filled with hope for the future. We will act as if we have a future.”

The Awards Dinner Friday evening kicks off the festivities. The Institute will give awards for activism and public witness, including a keynote address on How the Sexual Revolution Hijacked the Women’s Movement. The Summit for Survivors of the Sexual Revolution on Saturday includes these sessions:

Surviving Childhood Sexual Abuse – Statistical analysis and strategies for healing, including testimony from survivors of childhood sexual abuse, including clergy sexual abuse.

Surviving Pornography Addiction – Understanding pornography as a public health crisis, and offering strategies for protecting children.

Surviving the LGBT Sub-Culture – Including health and psychological risks commonly associated with same-sex sexual activity and gender dysphoria.

Morse added: “Last year’s Survivors Summit was an overwhelming success. This year, we’ll be hearing expert input and testimony from survivors on a new range of issues associated with the Sexual Revolution.”

“The Ruth Institute is the only organization fighting for the family and exposing the interconnectedness of such diverse issues as divorce, pornography, sexual abuse, gender dystopia, the LGBT movement and the sub-cultures it’s spawned.”

Morse concluded, “Our Third Annual Awards Dinner and Summit for Survivors of the Sexual Revolution will be about healing, hope and unity.”

NYC Health Dept. Caters to Sex Addicts

For Immediate Release

For more information, contact media@ruthinstitute.org.

“At first I thought it was as joke,” said Ruth Institute President Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D., “but New York City’s Health Department really did issue guidelines on containing the Wuhan virus which recommend masturbation and warn against group sex, at least while the crisis lasts.”

The Health Department memo says, “Masturbation will not spread COVID-19, especially if you wash your hands (and any sex toys) with soap and water for at least 20 seconds before and after.”

“The next safest partner is someone you live with,” the city advises. “If you do have sex, have as few partners as possible.”

Morse commented, “Normal people know they should not participate in life-threatening activities. Do the residents of New York need to be told to abstain from casual sex, sex with strangers and orgies during this major public health crisis?”

The New York Post seemed to play the story for laughs, saying “it makes sense to give yourself a hand.” But Morse takes this seriously, “Memo to NYC Health Department: no one has ever died from abstaining from sex. If you think you’ll die without sex, you are probably a sex addict. It appears that the Department is run by and for sex addicts. It assumes that group sex, casual sex and orgies are normal.”

Morse continued: “This is all depressingly typical of the Sexual Revolution, which treats sex as a mere bodily function. It maintains that people have a right to sex, as much and any way they want, free of consequences. This is the perspective that allows the New York Health Department to think they are making a bold move. Recommending limits of any kind, but only for the duration of the pandemic, that’s a radical step for them.”

“One thing they never do is discuss sex in a moral context,” Morse observed. “For them, talking about sex and morality in the same breath is puritanical and obsessive. But since the Centers for Disease Control says there are 20 million new STD infections each year, maybe there’s something to be said for self-restraint.”

Morse concluded: “Other casualties of the Sexual Revolution include divorce, failure to achieve intimacy, fatherless families, declining fertility and a pornified culture. It’s unlikely that the New York City Department of Health has put out memos on any of this.”

The Ruth Institute’s upcoming Summit for Survivors of the Sexual Revolution – Protecting Children and Families (July 17-18 in Lake Charles, Louisiana) will examine many of these issues.

Virtue Signaling Without Virtue: porn industry brags about its voluntary shutdown over coronavirus

March 20, 2020

For Immediate Release

For More Information contact media@ruthinstitute.org

In response to calls by an industry lobbying group to voluntarily close down the so-called adult entertainment industry for two weeks to halt the spread of COVID-19, Ruth Institute President Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D., commented: “Wow. That is really decent of them to shut down their $16.9 billion per year business for two weeks. This is nothing more than them going on vacation or a spring break. Big deal.”

Morse added: “I wonder if they will figure out how to make X-rated movies where those involved keep social distancing. Perhaps, instead of having sex on camera, they could rub elbows.”

“The coronavirus is only one of their problems,” Morse explained. “‘Adult industry’ apologists brag about how ‘clean’ they are, because they test the performers for STI's and wipe down their S&M paraphernalia in their dungeons. For an industry that caters to human vices, a two-week shutdown is a meaningless move. It’s virtue-signaling from those without virtue.”

“More importantly,” Morse continued, “pornography is an affront to human dignity. Pornography does nothing to build up the spousal relationship, which is one of the natural organic purposes of human sexual activity. Instead, the use of pornography actively harms married love. According to Marripedia, an academic website on marriage, pornography use is strongly correlated with increased infidelity, separation, divorce and marital dissatisfaction. Keeping the ‘adult industry’ sanitary and voluntary does not change these basic realities.”

The Institute’s upcoming Summit for Survivors of the Sexual Revolution – Protecting Children and Families (July 17-18 in Lake Charles, Louisiana) will include a session on “Protecting Children from our Pornified Culture.”
