Countering Half-truths on Human Sexuality: A Clear Response to Fr. Martin’s Fuzzy Thinking

November 26, 2019

For Immediate Release

For more information, contact media@ruthinstitute.org.

On November 23, Hudson Byblow, a former same-sex attracted man with transgender inclinations, now a faithful Catholic living chastely, spoke at the Saint Pius X Church Center in Rochester, New York, to an enthusiastic audience.

This event, co-sponsored by The Ruth Institute and The Station of the Cross Catholic Radio Network, was in response to a recent interfaith Rochester event featuring Fr. James Martin, a priest known to advocate for homosexuality. The Ruth Institute worked with a group of local Catholics, at their request, to bring Byblow to Rochester.

Ruth Institute President Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D., said, “Catholics must respond to people like Fr. James Martin. Evangelicals must respond to people like Pastor Josh Harris. The best response to fuzzy thinking is clear, unambiguous positive thinking, especially on the ancient Christian teachings about marriage, family and human sexuality.”

“It was a great blessing to welcome Hudson Byblow to our diocese to share his story and proclaim the fullness of truth on the virtue of chastity,” said Jim Havens, General Manager of The Station of the Cross Catholic Radio Network.

“In our time, when grave lies about human sexuality have largely captured the culture, and have even gained a strong foothold within the human element of the Church, faithful lay-led events such as this are no longer merely beneficial, they have become necessary," Havens said.

Local pro-life leader John White said, “In his talk, ‘Something more beautiful,’ not only did we hear about the mercy of Jesus Christ, we also felt it through the story of Hudson Byblow. Once feeling inadequate and not one of the boys, he is now a leader of men. He leads them to Christ.”

Byblow is a teacher and public speaker. He shares his journey from feeling like he didn’t belong and that he must be “gay” (and then transgender) to joyfully living a life of chastity in the freedom of Christ.

Chick-fil-A Chickens Out – Bows to LGBT Lobby

November 21, 2019

For Immediate Release

For more information, email media@ruthinstitute.org.

Ruth Institute President Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D., responded to the news that Chick-fil-A’s foundation will no longer give to Christian groups which oppose same-sex marriage. “Once the third largest restaurant of its kind stood for something fine and noble,” Morse said. “Now they’ve shown that their principles are negotiable, which means they have none.”

Morse observed, “The company’s charitable foundation just announced that they will no longer donate to the Salvation Army and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes because of their refusal to worship at the altar of the Sexual Revolution.”

In a letter to the corporation, Steve Hicks, a member of The Ruth Institute’s board of directors, wrote, “Yesterday’s news that Chick-fil-A folded to political pressure from the LGBT elitists was so sad. Now you will go the way of the Boy Scouts and become irrelevant.”

Hicks continued: “You might have a few precious hours left to fire your executives and recover some trust with your base, but it may be too late. You just nuked your founder's core values and dream. How am I supposed to eat another sandwich without being sick to my stomach? It would violate my core values of principled leadership and American entrepreneurial independence.”

Morse added, “Sexual revolutionaries are relentless in crushing dissent. No deviation will be permitted, however principled. How long will it be before Chick-fil-A is delivering sandwiches to gay pride parades?”

Morse concluded: “We can only sadly quote the words of Winston Churchill to Neville Chamberlain after Munich. 'You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war.' Chick-fil-A has just returned from its personal Munich singing the siren song of appeasement.”

Daleiden Verdict Protects Sale of Aborted Body Parts

November 20, 2019

For Immediate Release

For more information, email media@ruthinstitute.org.

Commenting on the bizarre verdict in the David Daleiden case, Ruth Institute President Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D., observed, “Keeping abortion safe and legal has never been enough.”

Daleiden and his team covertly recorded Planned Parenthood employees discussing how they illegally planned to sell body parts from aborted babies.

The judge ruled that Planned Parenthood’s privacy had been violated and awarded it $2.2 million in damages. Morse said the verdict is another instance of the Sexual Deep State “circling the wagons” to protect abortion because “it is the ultimate guarantor of sex being a sterile activity.”

“The ideology also holds that every person old enough to give meaningful consent is entitled to unlimited, child-free, problem-free, guilt-free sex. That’s why abortion must always be presented in a positive light – as enhancing freedom rather than advancing an ideology at the cost of countless lives.”

“If abortion has serious side effects for some, publicizing that fact undermines the ‘right’ to sex,” Morse continued. “Further, if the abortion industry is out for its own financial gain and should not be trusted, that too, undermines the belief that inconvenient conceptions can always be undone.”

The Sexual Revolutionary ideology rests on three principles: separating sex from babies, separating sex and babies from marriage, and removing the differences between men and women.

“The Sexual Revolution has been a power grab every bit as significant in reshaping society as the French or the Bolshevik Revolution,” Morse noted.

Opposition to Mutilation Isn’t Hate Speech

November 13, 2019

For Immediate Release

For more information, contact media@ruthinstitute.org.

YouTube: “Criticizing Transgender Surgery = Hate”
Ruth Institute: “Banning Speech = Cowardice”

Ruth Institute President Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D. condemned YouTube’s decision to ban a Daily Signal/Heritage Foundation video with Dr. Michelle Cretella, M.D. over her comment on transgenderism.

“The Sexual Revolutionaries running YouTube are cowards. They cannot refute Dr. Cretella and the Heritage Foundation. They ban their opponents instead of confronting them. Big Tech is making Big Brother seem benign,” Morse said.

YouTube claims an observation by the eminent pediatrician, and executive director of the American College of Pediatricians, violates its hate speech code. In the 2017 interview, Cretella said: “If you want to cut off a leg or an arm, you’re mentally ill, but if you want to cut off healthy breasts or a penis, you’re transgender.”

“Dr. Cretella’s remarks did not promote violence toward or hatred of anyone,” Morse declared. “Instead, it’s the type of mutilation which Cretella spoke out against that’s an act of violence.”

Morse continued: “YouTube has decided that a perfectly reasonable remark by a medical professional is hate speech. It uses this to justify banning inconvenient expression.”

Dr. Cretella also appeared in the October 4 edition of The Dr J Show, the Ruth Institute’s new video podcast. Drs. Morse and Cretella discussed a variety of concerns, including the medical consequences of so-called gender-transitioning. The Ruth Institute is urging its supporters to promote this interview as a way to counter the censorship against our friends at the Heritage Foundation.

In another case the Ruth Institute has been involved with, divorced parents were in a bitter custody dispute. The wife wanted to transition her 7-year-old son to a transgendered “female.” The husband fought it. After a public outcry, the judge granted joint custody. But she also issued a gag order preventing the parties from discussing the case publicly. Said Morse “This is another outrageous example of censorship involving transgenderism.”

Despite YouTube’s attempts to silence dissent, the Heritage Foundation has made the public aware of the injustice through its direct email communications with supporters. The Ruth Institute urges the public to subscribe to its lists, so we can inform them if we’ve been de-platformed on social media.

“We intend to keep fighting to get the truth out, regardless of what Big Tech thinks or does,” Dr. Morse said.

In announcing an upcoming speech by Hudson Byblow, a faithful Catholic who once embraced a gay identity, Ruth Institute President Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D., said, “The best response to fuzzy thinking is clear, unambiguous positive thinking, especially on the Catholic doctrine on sexuality.”

“We are concerned about the confusion spread by people such as Fr. James Martin, who spoke at an Interfaith gathering in Rochester, New York, on November 7,” Morse explained. “A group of loyal Catholics in Rochester asked for the Ruth Institute’s support.”

In collaboration with the Station of the Cross Catholic Radio Network, the Ruth Institute is sponsoring a talk by Hudson Byblow November 23, 7 pm, at St. Pius X Church Parish Center (3010 Chili Avenue, Rochester). The title of his talk is “Something More Beautiful – From LGBTQ to Jesus Christ."

Rochester Bishop Salvatore Matanohas given permission for the event to take place on Catholic property and be advertised in Catholic media. Byblow’s own bishop, The Most Reverend Mark A. Hagemoen of the Canadian Province of Saskatoon, says “Mr. Byblow’s approach is informed by his own journey and ongoing conversion, and by his intellectual, human and spiritual formation. I am confident that Hudson is faithful in presenting the fullness of the Church’s teaching in these areas and that his presentations will be of great benefit to his audiences.”

Archbishop Donald Bolen of Regina, Canada, formerly bishop of Saskatoon, said, “Mr. Byblow’s frank yet tempered approach to some of the most difficult topics facing our youth today is an important part of dialogue and witness so needed by our church on matters including chastity, homosexuality, same-sex marriage, and contemporary gender issues.”

Morse said, “We are honored to work with The Station of the Cross Catholic Radio Network and others to let the full truth and beauty of Catholic teaching shine forth.” She also noted, “The teaching of the universal call to chastity has been a part of the Christian tradition from Apostolic times, stretching back to Judaism. These teachings are often regarded as strictly Catholic, but historically, all branches of Christianity and Judaism taught the same things. Mr. Byblow’s talk is open to anyone who wishes to learn more about the beauty of living a life of self-command.”

Byblow is a teacher and Catholic speaker. He shares his journey from being bullied and abused and thinking he must be gay, to being a free man, living in the freedom of Christ as a Catholic, joyfully striving to live a life of chastity.
