Welcome to the Ruth Institute podcast page! This is one of my favorite places on the entire site! Here we've collected recordings of my speeches, interviews, and other programs for you to enjoy. Some of these podcasts are from live lecture halls, speeches or rallies. Others are from radio interviews. In all cases, you receive the benefit of the Ruth Institute knowledge and experience on all issues relating to the Sexual Revolution.

Trauma and the Best Ways to Help the Victims: Dr. Deborah Rodriguez interview

By now you know the drill: it's Friday, and this is an audio podcast of our weekly video broadcast of "The Dr J Show." This week's guest is Dr. Deborah Rodriguez, a pediatrician whose specialty is working with children and families who've experienced trauma, including survivors of abuse and human trafficking. She works with the Hopeful Hearts Ministry and the Maria Goretti Network, and she's a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics Committee on Child Abuse and Neglect.

Reading Recommendations

Action Item: Buy the book Abuse of Trust. Read it! Give it to your pastor, school principal or anyone else involved in ministry. Give it a positive review on Amazon!

Follow the guidelines of trauma-informed ministry:

  • Realize that trauma/abuse exist and is very common
  • Recognize the signs of trauma
  • Respond in a trauma-informed way (using the VEEL approach)
  • Avoid re-traumatization
  • Consider setting up a trauma-informed church/school/family to create a safe place for survivors to begin to heal

 


Byproducts of the #MeToo Movement and Culture of Death

(October 1, 2019) Dr J is once again a guest on Ave Maria Radio's "Catholic Connection," where she's speaking with host Teresa Tomeo about current events in culture and politics. They're discussing power plays in business and government on sexual revolutionary topics, specifically the CDC's finding that 1 in 16 women's first sexual experience was forced, Mattel's launch of a gender-neutral doll line because "the children have asked for it," and more.

A Survivor's Tale of Priestly Abuse: Allen Hébert Interview

So we're trying a new content stream--a news-y video program called "The Dr J Show." Dr J gets to meet a lot of experts in her line of work, and we'd like to introduce some of them to you. This is the audio of our third episode's interview with guest Allen Hébert. In his book Abuse of Trust, Allen shares stories of sexual abuse victims' experiences, hope, and healing, including his own abuse at the hands of his parish priest.
